Hi.

Does anyone know if there were any dub versions made of the classic Joe Gibbs track - uptown top ranking? I've so far found that the 45 has a "version" mix on the b-side though it's not so much dub more just an instrumental mix.

Any one know of any dub made around the same rhythm?

There is a dub or version by The Mighty Two called Calicu Suit. maybe this one is the dub you were looking for!

A there's no dubbing? and B the horn section sounds awful, it's completely out of tune (thanks though) I realize it's not your doing would have been nice to see some justice done to this track in terms of Dub.

There's a better version on the Mikey dread show, but it's just a short Radio jingle . . .

calico suit is the dub to uptown top ranking but, joe gibbs also recorded i'm still in love with you boy, Marcia aitkin and also Trinity's three peice suit on the same rythm and both of these have different dubs,also trinity recorded Slim ting, Clint eastwoood recorded "badder than you" the dub is called "better callie" was on town and country label and is my favourit dub of it.

also can be found on african dub chapter 2 as "Angola Crisis" this is a straight dub, that i think joe gibbs based all his other versions on, i think uptown top ranking had added extra keyboard over dubs which when remixed for calico suit were speeded up and down thats why it sounds ,well not to every ones taste.

Ah, that's the version I've heard, very nice. It's a shame that the keyboards (harpsichord and a Moog is it? that they only appear on the Althea and Donna track, I was hoping to hear those keys with some wild dubbing thrown in the mix . . .

has any one noticed that calico suit's main melody is the same as merry up by the god sons (glen brown)
