Bunny Wailer - Armagideon 12" Repress from Dub Store

Before hitting my actual topic I must give biggest respect to Dub Store Records from Japan who gave us the greatest revival sounds selection of them all in 2009 with the Bunny Wailer archives.
Even more respect for holding back a number of releases when they discovered that the actual pressings were not up tho their standards!
BUT...when you release an immaculate classic like 'Armagideon' on a quite expensive 12" in a condition like they did I can only judge with thumbs down.

Okay, this is HEAVY vinyl, but the sound quality is dull to say the least and the pressing could have been better too.
I am in the comfortable position to have all their repressings from Bunny Wailer' catalogue and all other are brilliant in sound and pressing.
Anyone of you feeling the same way?

Only from listening to sound clips i know exactly what you are talking about - it sounds blurry even on low quality sound clips, especially when you compare it to other sound clips from the Solomonic 12" reissues. How is the sound on the Melodica cut 7" ? (forgot the title)
BTW when comparing the Rise & Shine 12" to an original copy (actual vinyl not sound clips) you can hear the reissue is speeded up - have to play it on -2 pitch in order to match the original...

Well, if the japanese friends got the masters, it is possible that the re issue has the right speed, and that the original PRESS is too slow!

With reggae music everything is possible...
However judging by Bunny's vocals i tend to think the original 12" play at the correct speed. Pitch issues aside sound quality on the Rise & Shine repress is brilliant, might say it sound even better than the original !

Bunny wailer entire back of most of his deleted albums seems to have been mysteriously re-pressed on vinyl..

I was listening this morning the amagideon disco repress. The sound is blurry and there is some little crack just like if they tooked it from an other vinyl, quite strange...

My gut tells me that the repress are all taken from vinyl. It is then pretty easy to use digital software to clean cracks & pops, and do a little tweaks to make it "feel" better than original masters. BUT BUT, by going through this process, some sound definition is lost. So, it gets more spectacular, but not as refined. A bit like Coke tastes "great", but freshly squeezed juices have more dimensions.
Running the represses vs. the OG's (Amagideon, and Rise & Shine) on my 124 Thorens, I think the OG are still the ones to own, if, obviously, in EX condition.

Has anyone sent a email to these japaneese guys at dubstore? Maybe they might tell the truth?
This seems to get worse and worse reading all this stuff about these 12" represses and the japaneese asking seriously big money.. Wot will happen next??
Maybe someone should get onto the japaneese and tell them to lower the prices??? That Would be good
