Mikey Dread and Scientist jingles

Q1)Are all the jingles on the African Anthem [cover=1281,1474] originally created by Mikey Dread? Since most do sound like Mikey Dread's creations, I'm interested in knowing the one at the beginning of Comic Strip...goes something like "is that a timetable...well get on it..it's your time". Is that from some famous comic strip?

Q2)How about the ones on the Scientist Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires? [cover=1356,1558]Are they Scientist creations ? Stuff like "this is the curse of the mummy" ,"i want blood..I want blood...ha ha ha" ? Are these from some horror movies I happen to have missed?

"is that a timetable...well get on it..it's your time".

It's actually, "turntable" and "turn".....timetable makes no sense. These are from an old Gangster movie.
Mikey Dread created, and used his own jimgles.

My understanding of Scientist's Greensleeves LPs is that he would deliver the mixes, and Greensleeves added the effects as post-production. They also came up with the "theme"....in other words, neither Scientist nor Junjo said "hey, let's call this one Scientist Wins The World Cup". Clever marketing that has worked, as those LPs amongst his best known.

Thanks. Didn't make sense to me either. Do you know the title of the gangster movie?

Hmmm ...so all the vampire effects have nothing to do with Scientist. I always wondered how he had created them.
Clint Eastwood & General Saint have a Greensleeves 12 inch track called Two Bad DJ(on the Wailing Souls Kingdom Rise Kingdom Fall riddim) and the dub part has similar effects, but also mixed by Scientist.

According to the Mikey Dread (possibly from liner notes on "African Anthem" Auralux issue) he got some jingles from Lee Perry.

Scientist jingles:
Sure we know that Scientist got ripped off big time by Greensleeves, but I'm not sure that these jingles were "overdubbed" in England or something.

On the Eastwood/Saint LP Two Bad DJs there is also a track called "Talk about run" with an almost identical sounding mic-effect (that undead/vampire-character that Eastwood/Saint meet, very funny by the way).

Maybe Scientist really put some of his dub versions together for possible release of a "concept album", and maybe Eastwood or Saint made this little jingles "this is the curse of the mummy" and so on.

They seemed to have been working quite close to Scientst, even riding some of his dub versions for their album. For example Young Lover on the dub version of Johnny Osbornes No Ice Cream Love (as you might already know ;-)

I would guess it's the animal sounds.I've heard those on some of Perry's own music

I did once read somewhere that the legendary Lee Perry 'mooing cow' sound was actually a recording of Watty Burnett making sound through a cardboard (kitchen roll/toilet roll middle) tube...
