What are you're strangest vinyl related experiences, either buying or selling, finding, or odd pressings etc or just weird records that you have found?

I have a couple, they're nothing that amazing though. . one of my records completely degraded on it's own, despite being bought new, played very little and kept safely in my record box after only a few months it now sounds like . .

[this. . .](http://killalltraitors.co.uk/audio/FarI.mp3)

You'd swear it was 30 years old, (It's a new repress) and arrived in perfect condition, looking at the vinyl there's not a single visible scratch on it, I even recorded it when it arrived and it sounded fine, the noise is even all the way through the record, it's not just cue burn or wear around the edge etc, besides the record has rarely even been played, it's just kind of disintegrated.

Another record I bought at the same time from HMV in the UK, (also a new re issue and arrived still factory sealed) I carefully opened the seal and took the record out only to find it looked as though it had been kicked around on someone's floor for a month, it was covered in cat hairs, dirt and carpet fluff you name it lol all sealed nicely to protect them, strange. .

I've really started to get paranoid now, like is someone got it in for me lol. . . .

I recently bought a 'new' repress that had what looked like cat hairs on it too, also one (from the same shop) that appeared to have paint splatters on it, they were murder to get off, both records brand new re-presses though

clocktower repress having right label, but cheap 80's soul on it instead of the reggae stuff expected.

Don't judge a book by its cover!

Well, the vinyl press of General Echo's LP from Steve Barrows new label was some kind of house LP instead of Gen Echo.

Perhaps you have an old used/worn out needle.... sound like the cause to me.

shouldn't be it's a new Shure needle, well about a year old no more, I think it's a problem with the compound they've used, some kind of impurity, otherwise why would only this one record be effected?

Seems weird though.

Really? Those little sneaks, they could have at least cleaned it before they re-sealed it.

One of them is very rare and the only time that soul Lp was ever pressed!

Years ago I had Beware by Yabby you. It had a scratch and skipped on one of the tracks in a very specific point. I always knew when it was coming. Anyway, my copy was nicked from a party in Portsmouth in around 82.

In about 1995 I was browsing in a second hand record shop in winchester. I saw Beware, and immediately bought it. Got home played it, and low and behold the record skipped in exactly the same place as it before.
