I just picked up a copy of this on the original Imperial label and was wondering if anyone knew the source of any of the riddims?

It seems to have some similarities with this LP (not the tracks themselves but the presentation :D

i.e. spoken intros (some by Bunny Lee?) and also this set utilises some tracks from other Imperial releases like David Isaacs "Love & Devotion."

Thanks for the knowledge!

Who is the man to the right? He looks like he could be related to Sly (perhaps his brother?).

Is the "Master Of Ceromony Dub" good?

I have the "King Tubby v Channel One" and like that a lot.

Really like those spoken intro`s.

"Allied Dub Contest" is another one is the same vein.

Thanks

Dave

Thanks for the comments everyone! Upon further listening it is indeed typical Bunny Lee fare, as Dudley mentioned some reworkings of familiar riddims, Johnny Clarke's "Legalize It" among others.

I'm not sure who the fourth guy on the sleeve is kalcidis, I thought perhaps one of Bunny Lee's partners like Count Shelly or Pete Weston? Just a guess.

Dave, I would not rate Master of Ceremony as highly as the KT v. Channel One set. The latter has a real dubplate kind of feel (to my ears) and really inspired mixing, while "Master" is nice dub but certainly not the kind of thunderous mixes on the KT/C1 album. The sparse details on the LP don't even reveal who mixed Master of Ceremony, it could be Jammy's but it's pretty tame by his standards.

Sly & Robbie did have a lot of dub-by-the-numbers stuff out there.

Playlist :
The Mighty Dub Of Dubs = Talk too Much
Stone Age Dub = Sweet Conversation
Top Ranking Style Dub = Real Rastaman
Dub Hold I And I = Love Me Forever
Sly And Robbie Rock Steady Dub = Storm
Liquidation Dub = Liquidator
Sly And Robbie The Kings Of Dubs = King of the arena
Legalize It Dub Style = Legalize it
A Roots This A Dub = Roots Natty Congo
Blazing Away Dub Style = I Need a Vegie

Unless the tracks are mistitled, that's my 2 cents.

Many thanks! Bunny Lee knew how to get maximum mileage out of his riddim tracks!

As much as I love the Revolutionaries, I find Sly and Robbie's later self-produced dub to be very hit and miss.

This set for example is dead boring for me, even though the personnel looks promising...
