Do you mean designate the an album's origin? There is a word "calificada" in Spanish which is used for designating a wine's origin. There is no such word as "calificate" in English.

User calification/ratings would be a great inclusion and, I assume, very simple to incorporate. Would save me having to check Discogs.com to get some idea of which albums are worth buying!

Problem is we all rate albums differently. What may be rated as a great album to one persone may be rated as average by another person.

Its all down to personal taste so i`m not sure how this would work.

rating a certain album also personally changes with me.
while i am not fixed, my perception of the album is neither.
and rating is like a penalty. if it's done wrong it sticks to the album for years.

though i could handle a star system of 3 stars, like +, average and -.

If enough people rate (see Discogs), generally a consensus emerges, giving a fairly accurate view of the album's worth to a large number of people.

For example, Rootsman doesn't personally like *Rockers Almighty Dub* at all (ONLY a random example!) and so gives it a rating of 1/5. Two other RA users think it's average, so they give it 3/5. However, 27 people think it's one of the best dub records out there and give it 5/5. The overall score would appear as ... [calculating] ... 4.7/5

Simple, eh! ;)

I totally agree with this approach! The more people will rate the more accurate an album will be rated.

Geoffrey, you actually picked a bad example as that has to be one of my favorite dub albums, so i`ll start this thing off by giving that one 5 out of 5 :)

what if the same person votes 36.7 times for the same lp?
