Buying my first turntable...help

I dont know anything about turntables , since 6 years ago i been listening to reggae and dub music, so i decided to start my own collection. My first step is to buy a turntable, i dont have too much money , so i thought to buy a second hand one. A man offer me a -Pioneer Pl 1150- , what do you think about this one? its good? not good? , maybe fine to star, dont know, if you guys can recommend me something i would be very greatefull.

Welcome to the club!
That Pioneer should be fine to begin with. It's a direct drive (no belt drive mechanism inside - all electronic) and it was first released in 1975, so it's from a similar era to the music I imagine you like. Just don't pay much for it.
The most reliable tables tend to be Technics, but they're not spectacular to listen to. I'd recommend Denon direct drive tables above all others (I use one just like this:
