Studio One repress LPs?

Every now and then I used to get myself a few repress Studio One albums (not Heartbeat or Soul Jazz) from Ernie B of which he had loads. Recently I was told that they're stopping repressing these albums and now I checked Ernie B's site to see which I wanted to add to an order I'm planning to make soon and suddenly there's none left, only lots of 'used items'. The last time I ordered there, a few months ago I recall there were still plenty to choose (bought Presenting the Gladiators that time) not expecting them to dissappear that fast. Anyone know whether this repress-stop is true and whether the stock at Ernie's did indeed drop fast or is just my imagination?

Same seems true for the 45s. Bought plenty there over the years with always nuff choice, now only used items.

Just surprised to see.

i think this is true.
alot of stuff has dissapeared recently and quick.
i first noticed this starting to happen after christmas...
So everytime i find a studio one lp or 7 i try to pick it up if i can.
same goes for some various 7's that were in stock on eb's for about a day or so,and now gone

Really? Thanks for the heads up. I was just at my local shop and there were a handful of Studio One represses I don't have. Now I wish I hadn't passed them up! I'll have to get back there soon and scoop them up.

Thanks for the info, mr mountain. Wonder what makes them stop repressing the catalogue. $$$ I guess (?).

i dont know?
but i have a feeling the same thing will happen with the
vivian jackson/yabby you label as well...
This subject brings up the question,
"how many pressing plants are left in jamaica?"
because it seems alot of jamaican press records
have the same look, and sound quality.
is it only one or two controlling the whole repress
project?
i know sonic sounds, jammys, roots tradition, corner stone all seem to be similar pressings.
or is that just me?

just got a Studio One 7" repress of The Royals "Pick Up The Pieces" from EB on a whim while ordering some other stuff, and although the price was nice, the quality of the records wasn't even worth the low price i paid.... $2.29, i know, i know..... too good to be true.

i've had some miserable Studio One presses in the past, but these have lowered the bar. the records look good physically but have lots of loud defects and sound like they have been transferred badly from a VG- copy.

has anyone gotten any recent Studio One repress that sounds good? i grabbed a newer repress of Dennis Brown "No Man Is An Island" from somewhere else and was similarly disappointed.

Studio One has been dormant for many years now.. Ernie B sold the lastleftover stock from their Brooklyn warehouse. Until the courtcase about the legal ownership is settled, don't expect anything new...

oh, i didn't realize that his empire was in dispute...... so, in other words, it'll be like Treasure Isle - decades.
