i've never heard this album, and absolutely love police and thieves, it's one of my favorite albums of all time.
i almost bought it this past weekend, but chose not to because i tend to not listen to so much jamaican music from the 80s.
but i think junior murvin has one of the best voices ever. should i spend the $$ (i don't have much) on it?
thanks

Highly recommend it! Not one bad tune. Muggers in the street title song is the same riddim as police and thieves. Good, good album! In my opinion it blows doors on police and thieves album. Bad man posse should be on your list. Just got it. Insane!

Police and Thieves is one of my Favourite albums so I bought MUGGERS to hear more
Jr Murvin, It is good, but I do NOT think it as good as P & T.
The singing and music is OK, but it is a very slow tempo album !
I would spend my money on the DELUXE version of P & T.

I am not a big fan of Junior's voice, but IMO it works well when it's incoporated by Scratch into his swirling mixes, where it simply sounds like interesting instrumentation.
However I personally don't like the result as much when it's on top of sparse Radics riddims. If you love Junior's voice you will be pleased, but if you aren't sure, I would listen first before buying.
Just my two cents.

IMO Junior Murvin is a must in every reggae collection. I have Police & Thieves, the Deluxe edition, Muggers in the Street and of course Badman Possee and some DATC 12 inches. The Badman Possee album is one of the best mastered albums ever. Hear that sound!

I never was a fan of the Lee Perry LP. Some great tracks but (the title track for one) most of it left me quite cold. As did his LP for junjo. Haven't heard his LP for Mikey Dread but I've got the titletrack on 12" and that's a proper belter! Love it.

I agree, Badman Possee, with Mikey Dread at the controls, is excellent. Kalcidis, it check out, you'll find two versions of the title track on it.

Bad Man Possee is definately his strongest album. Police and thieves is a golden classic, like it.
Muggers album has some nice tracks on it - but is the weakest album.
Bad Man Possee has a great sound and is dubbed pefectly. Play this album loud.
I used to sell a spare copy for around 130 U$ some years ago.
Due to the so called crisis days and the weak pound + dollar this album should go for just a third meanwhile. Saw one for a nice price a few weeks ago.

i quite liked his apartheid album, produced by jammy, recorded at channel one. have police and thieves and muggers, but this one is my favourite of the three. not a bad tune on it, then again i love the mid 80s sound so its right down my street.
i.k.
(edit to answer question)
muggers is definitly worth picking up
