In the bible it says King David was a musician, a player of instruments. Rasta sounds like Jah Shaka would say `i play this one ina King David style` in reference to instrumental tunes he played in the dance.

I thought it is playing a dance with just one turntable instead of two?

Didn't they have mixers in the old testament?

It's all about the message in the music....

its about lryical content...and spiritual feeling you are sending through the music you are playing....
it's got nothing to do with the number to TT you have!

I heard a radio show about UK Dub soundsystems like Jah Shaka etc. where it was mentioned. They explained on this show playing King David style is done with the typical setup of one turntable with a mic and effect unit and so on. Maybe old jamaican sytle? And the music those Dub sounds play is naturally mostly uplifting spiritual or like you said: "about lryical content...and spiritual feeling you are sending through the music you are playing ..."

I've been to Dub dances and the soundsystems don't use mixers and only use one turntable (one TT and a mixer? ;-))!

Not sure. But maybe they had Roland Space Echos for nice effects.

Even if you use just one TT. You'll still use a mixer to steer the bass high's and mids and to arange the fx.

As ever with jamaican music, both are true at the same time. It does refer to the spiritually uplifting style, especially of instrumental dubs; but also to playing only with one turntable.
