Just found an original pressing of Jux's and Deb's Dance A Dub Lp for £10 and it's original and MINT. As far as I know only about 500 of these were ever pressed.
Is it really this rare on the vinyl?
I'd be interested in any background you guys could give me to it's 'history' and rep as a Dub lp. I'm not a big dub fan generally so I dont' know that much about the genre really...
Tah,
Mikey

Personally it's one of my favourite dub LPs, super-heavy mixes from various engineers and an all-star band. I've seen the original pressing fetch over £100 numerous times, it was reissued in the 90s but the OP seems very rare. Sounds like you got a pretty great deal!
The riddims themselves are essentially a track-for-track remix of this outstanding vocal set:
[cover=1827,2152]
Oddly enough, the dub LP came out before the vocal.

I believe it, there's no mistaking the OG and the reissue as you can see from the pics here...

I've never heard the original lp, looks like I'll have to get hold of that now! I picked it up in an antique centre in Lewes East Sussex England, the kind of place where you're more likely to find old Mantovani lps or hippy and Prog rock oldies, stuff like the Strawbs and incredible string band, if you find anything interesting at all!
I pop into this place because I'd once seen a rare Ian Carr Lp that though it was priced at £190 was under-priced (believe it or not) and though I wasn't interested in that, I just keep popping into these places, becuase you never know what you're going to find. This was with only about 50 Lps and most of them stuff like Deep purple and the like...
I also bought a Dr. Bird single and an early Island with Stranger and Claudette on in the same town for £10 each earlier in the week, both in EX+ condition... plus only last week I found a copy of the Scorchers hold on tight on Camel for 10p, it's been a bloody good month! ... though I'm off to listen to the Tiger lp I got for £4 - Bam Bam on RAS records.

Yeah, OP is *original press*. OG I learned from Ice-T as a youngster that it meant *original gangster*.

I've gone and paid out for the JD 'Effort' Lp on DEB now!!!
Listened to the start of the Lp last night, lovely lovely horns and clean as a whistle, beautiful copy, not a snap crackle or a pop!

It's a massive album! For me "Effort" is one of the best vocal sets of the roots era, Jux has Dennis Brown & the Heptones on backing vocals! I have the UK and JA issues, both are super clean pressings to make the LP even better.
By the way, I meant OG to be an abbreviation of original, we Original Gangsters use it

Believe it or not, thouh I have a number of lps on Deb, including Wolves and leopards, Umoja Dub, Dj Tracking, I'd never for some reason seen or heard of Effort...??? Dunno why, just one of those odd oversights.. I love Deb era Delgado so I'm quite excited really, by my find and what it's leading to.
this is the way it's meant to work isn't it! One thing leading to the next thing....
