I've listened to JA music more than any other kind over the past 22 years or so. Somehow I managed to go all that time without hearing this record, recently repressed. Wow. It's really f*n great! Comments?

Such a great album!!! i had the dub counterpart(Eastman Dub) for years before hearing the vocal version...and I was totally blown away, particularly as I found Eastman Dub to be a little underwhelming. Although I remember from a "Best Dub Album" thread on here a while ago that plenty of people really rate it.

Anybody know the origin or meaning of the name "Tetrack"? I've always thought it was pretty unusual.

Hey Alastair,

here is the origin of their name taken from Tetarck myspace: "TETRACK is one of those groups that you hear about, and after you feel their music, you wish you knew more about. The group started in 1972 with boyhood friends Paul Mangaroo, Dave Harvey and Carlton Hines. They all grew up in the Mountain View / Warika Hill area of east Kingston in Jamaica. The group which took their name from the “baddest” sound system in the area, started recording in 1974. "

Still doesn't explain the meaning of the word...

Maybe related to Tetrapack?

Or "The Track" without the "h"?

Very strange name!

I've always been a bigger fan of their follow up showcase LP. That heavy gussie-sound with their fantastic harmonizing. Brilliant.

I believe it has to do with the recording equipment.
