Have you guys ever seen a Coxsone 7 inch in yellow text before? Is this an uncommon color?

I am also trying to find out info on the Embassy Soul record label, was this label owned by Dodd?

I've got a few, but it's not common.

the embasy soul label is a rare one off: ken boothe - swinging king / without love, and only the first press

you can see a lot of the different CS Dodd labels at Dancecrasher.co.uk

@Jumbo

I have always thought that it was an "Embassy" one-off because it's basically an advert for Embassy cigarettes...."the swinging king smokes Embassy Kings...".

Strange to hear those cigarette ads today on our non-smoking world!

@Jumbo
I have it on Embassy, it's a dull wine-red colour with "Embassy" lettering on the label. I will try to dig it up to see what is on the back, I seem to recall it has a version (instrumental) on the flip. Melodically, it's kind of a re-working of Danny & The Juniors "At The Hop".

I am sure that there is an interesting story about how this one came to be.

I believed that coxsone made a deal with the jamaican branch of the Embassy company, as well as being a smoker of such cigarettes during his time.

It's just that Embassy hired Studio One to do their tune - like a project. After awhile, Coxsone just kept the tune (and the trade disappeared anyway - after a tour in Jamaica !)
