Jah blessings on all my brothers and sisters.
I feel stupid to bother you lot but I have forgot the group and name of a song that I have loved so very much in the past. It is old roots song which has these lyrics:
***
Free... like a bird in a tree. That's how I want to be.
In Jah I put my trust.
Where there's no fight nor fuss.
I know it is a must to be free.
Addis Ababa, in Ethiopia.
On Mount Zion, our Parents' land.
We want to go back home, to Africa our home. (2X)
***
I hope some one recognises these lyrics and is able to help me with remembering who did this wonderful song and what it's called.
Peace, and Jah's love, on you all!
/Ziggy

It doesn't ring a bell, but someone here will know, so let's bump up this thread.

I'm thinking of a song with similar lyrics goes:
"Like a bird in the tree, the prisoners they must be free"
Is this the one u mean? i think it maybe junior delgado?
I know the tune so well but can't think who sings it or the name.
Then i'm not sure if it's a dub version i had or a mix which cuts into a different song but the rest of the lyrics include....
King solomon he was a black man, king david he was a blackman, in africa....
not sure if it's the same one u on about...but someone remind me who sings this one i mention...it's on the tip of my tongue

As for the "free like a bird" song, it rings a bell with me, could it maybe be Culture? I have in my head a kind of high "whiney" voice

Hello everyone,
Thank you so much for all of your help. So far nobody has got it but I can give some more verbal information first:
It was a track that was both reggae then dub so it's an oldie PLUS I think Arkle was close (or maybe even right) when asking if it was The Morwells. It is definitely a group of chaps singing and not just one person.
I'm going to try my best to make a version in FL Studio with my mate and post the URL here so people can hear what it sounded like to a close enough degree. Please stand by, my mate is away a few days so I can't put it up ASAP but if push somes to shove I'll record myself humming and singing to it.
Blessings on you lot for trying to help me, I can't tell you how it's haunted my days drifting in and out of my head without a way of just playing the darn thing. Thank you all for your amazing help.
Respect and Jah Bless you,
/Ziggy
