Peter Tosh Rolling Stone

I love the Rolling Stones! One of the most fascinating things about them is that they seem to pull from all sorts of genres - especially reggae! Listening to songs like “Black And Blue” – definitely shows how much Keith and the guys pulled from the genre. This being said, through my experiences listening to Rolling Stones I have begun listening to reggae legends such as Peter Tosh (he was actually the first artist on Rolling Stones Records!).

If your interested – you can check out Peter Tosh singing his song “Mystery Babylon” here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPEBRKqY ... r_embedded#

Anyway, I’m wondering….have the Rolling Stones led you to other musical discoveries? What other genres do you hear influencing Rolling Stones’ music?

I was and still am a big Stones fan and bought Black & Blue when it first came out and have a soft spot for it. I was and still am a reggae fan back then but their version of Cherry Oh Baby on that album is fairly appalling. Much prefered Hand Of Fate and the guitar play on Hey! Negrita. Keith's love of reggae was for real, but the others were just along for the ride. Tosh's duet with jagger on Don't Look Back is amusing enough, but thankfully it all seemed to go belly up from there. Tosh probably couldn't take Jaggers effete posturing and clocked him for a batty man - he certainly isn't, judging by the amount of beautiful women he's been through, but appearances are everything in Jamaica - which wouldn't have gone down too well with Tosh's compadres.

No further proof needed of Keith Richard's love of reggae and Jamaican culture:

this one sounds far better, no doubt

I have respect for them, but not any special sympathy neither. Talkin about sympathy, I like the Orchestre National de Barbes' [version of Sympathy for the devil](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6Yi5FqIJ7U) , which I discovered before than the original one. Now than I know both, I prefer the version :)
