Greetings,

Nice forum you have here!

I've gotten into Johnny Clarke a bit lately... mainly via King Tubby's dubs of his work. I've bought "A Ruffer Version", and "Authorised Rockers" and was wondering what Johnny Clarke CD(s) you think I should check out next?

My Top 5 songs of his that I know so far are probably...

1. Move Out Of Babylon Rastaman
2. Poor Marcus
3. Every Knee Shall Bow
4. Roots, Natty Roots, Natty Congo
5. Let Go Violence

... if that's any help in forming a recommendation.

Thanks.

Retro. :)

Johnny Clarke is a big favorite of mine too and I would recommend most of his output.

But as you state CD`s then I would go for these ones as they are fairly widely available and gives you a pretty good cross section of his music through from the mid 70`s and early 80`s

[cover=1791,2107]
[cover=2626,3030]
[cover=364,424]
[cover=2741,3163]
[cover=658,776]
[cover=62,64]
[cover=63,65]
[cover=497,604]

Also "Don`t Trouble Trouble" and its dub counterpart "Johnny In The Echo Chamber" both widely available on Attack CD.

OK, cool... I've ordered Don't Stay Out Late. Looking forward to hearing it. Thanks again.

The best CD is probably "Dreader Dread 1976-1978" (Blood & Fire), followed by the two you already have!
