Just came across the reissue of "The Secret Dub Life Of The Flying Lizards" - great piece of music as I would say...
As far as I understand it was recorded by Jah Lloyd in 1978 for Virgin Frontline but never released, the raw mono recordngs were then re-mixed by David Cunnigham not until 1995 and are now rereleased by Staubgold on vinyl. Does anyone have any further information e.g. if the tracks of the original "raw" Jah Lloyd versions are to be found somewhere on a compilation ? I read in the forum that some are supposedly to be found on the Virgin Frontline Box Set...

Thanks a lot, for the forum link also !
Yes, I agree you can hear a lot post punk influences in it and it breathes the air of some of the early Creation Rebel / On-U Sound stuff as well...although the mixing is kind of unique.
I haven't come across the mentioned Prince Hammer album so far, but it seems worth checking out !!!
Here's the link to the label that reissued it:

Yes I have had this since 1995 (see mr mountains thread link above) I bought it in Japan in 95 when I was seeking some FLYING LIZARDS stuff. I have been a fan a The Flying Lizards since the late 70's when they did a great cover version of MONEY....
and SUMMERTIME BLUES.
I then discovered the originals on the FRONTLINE box set and some other releases...
I would still love to hear them all because the musicianship of the originals is top stuff. Flying lizards also did a cover album of POP rock and Funk classics like SEX MACHINE by James Brown, but itr is not everyones cup of tea.....very robotic post punk stuff.

I'm listening to this now. Absolutely awesome.

Reminds me a bit of PFI's Cry Tuff Dub Encounter 3. Yeah, that's probably the closest thing in my collection to the sound of this album...
