Even though I can't get past Martins voice, it just doesn't do anything for me, the show was solid. Backed by Fully Fullwood Band, you can't go wrong... Funny that Fully wasn't even listed on the flyer cause for a minute, i thought Cualli was backing him... They are the band that flopped the Robert French show. And another band called southtown somebody? Who was just as horrible...

Didn't bother going, Martin Campbell has at least 3 performances a year here in San Diego. Was not Barrington Levy also singing? Barrington's performences are painful to watch or hear, he does hip hop more than reggae now a days...

I have to agree....
More than anything, the backing band for Martin Campbell - Santa Davis (Thunderous), Fully Fullwood (Cool and easy), Tony Chin (Rippin'), Roots Covenant Horns (Wicked everytime) and the man on Keys (???) , MAshed it!!! - They alone ROCKED! MArtin is alwas cool to see.
Barrington should know better than to play anything other than Roots and early 80's dancehall hits when he is in San Diego - But he still has not figured that out - Why?
And the Southtown Generals are all talented players but they do some hard rock, jam, and reggae - Kinda like Bad Brains - and the majority of the people werent ready for that. If you've ever heard the band Psydecar jam in OB back in the days then you know that they can Jam out , but not exactly the favorite for a Roots crowd.
More people would have enjoyed the Barrington set....if he didn't wait until Two AM to go on - So many people left waiting for him to go on.
Ohter than that, had a great time considering I didn't even have a ticket - cause I'm BROKE. I was just passing by while heading to my car after Deejaying a gig with Rasta NAtion Posse at House of Blues. Cruised by to rap with some friends who were waiting in line to get in and decided to check the back door to see if I could get in. Suddenly MArtin Campbell and his wife pull up and while speaking with them, the head of security hands me an all access back stage wrist band, then I walked in with MArtin Campbell and the rest of the band - the rest is History.
Good Times MAn. ADam

Whoah, put the brakes on when putting southtown generals in the same breath as Bad Brains adambom... They don't have the chops and integrity like the Brains.. that was more like Limp Bizkit or Sublime.. some beach stoner vibez...
As for the keyboardist of Fully Fullwoods band, that was Jawge Hughes, another extremely talented veteran... And yes I will agree, Roots Covenant horn section is on point...
As for Barrington? Snooze alert...... zzzzzzzzzz... why does he mix hiphop with his vibez and why the same setlist for the past 100 times?

Is this the same Martin Campbell who sang Wicked Rule and Who Can I Run To back in the 90s? What a backing band! Why doesnt he play with this band back in the UK?
