my 1st post
wondering if anyone has any info on gregory isaacs tour in 79 and 80. places setlist and band members i have 1 show maked 1979 and another with a similiar setlist but marked 1980. i know he did a small club tour between march and august of 1979. then in 1980 a UK tour. below is the info i have plus my added notes. can anyone plese shed some light on this. thanks in advance

I received this in trade back in the late 80s with little info, just the year. There is noticible hiss on this
FM-sourced cassette but the music makes it worth it.

In 1979 after the Soon Forward LP Gregory Isaacs played in small clubs from
around March through August 1979 before the Roots Radical Band had officially joined him. I believe this show to be in August of 1979. Gregory Isaacs was known to be in the east coast area at this time

Also any of the musicians from the Soon Come LP could of been on the mini tour

When the albums Lonely Lover (1980) and its follow-up More Gregory (1981) came out both albums were backed by the Roots Radical band, with whom Gregory Isaacs toured the UK in 1980-1981.
Hoping someone can shed more light someday on this recording.

I also have this show. I received it labelled as
"Hartford CT 1979", with no precise date info. Good luck in tracking down the date. It's a killer show, Gregory at his best.

I don't remember if Gregory announces the band, but I always thought that by the sound, it was The Radics (with Style not Santa).

are you talking about this one listed below. which seems different than the one i listed above (as far as the setlist) or could it be the same. in the show above in track 6 in the song Storm at about 3:50 mark it fades out then to silence then fades in at the 4:06 mark. the 1979 show does not have this song that is why i am wondering if this is a different show. please let me know what you think. thanks in advance

there is a fair amount of source based noise like hiss from the tape or something not digital or too bad however.
perhaps a nice B+/ A-ish for sound?

there are a few sub sec d/o's and a few minor cuts like the start of track 4 & 5

this is the earliest / oldest Gregory Isaacs show i've seen.

Thanks for this nugget. The only info I have on this is it is as listed on several collector's lists sbd a- no setlist . Backing band no doubt flabba holt-bass, style scott - drums, bingy bunny - guitar, dwight pickney - guitar - not sure who is on keyboards Steelie maybe? A.K.A. The roots radics
Gregory has a tour date on March 7 in Norfolk , VA reest of tour (small clubs)
is in August.
Gregory with his best backing band. I think the Radics certainly hold a record on backing the most musicians. They are also the backing band on hundreds of cds
with hundreds of artists from Culture to Israel Vibration. This band brings out the best in the singers. Sugar Minott for example, The Wailing Souls, Frankie Paul.
The albums with the Radics are the best by these singers. Style Scott currently in England working with the Dub Syndicate, Bingy Bunny R.I.P. Dwight Flabba and a new drummer are still working as the Radics. that's my trivia for
