Ive heard it and I dont like it specially... but I understand its a good enough production with a hip-hop sound, a lot of samplings, and some african-style voices/sounds in several songs. Not reggae, only dancehall with hip-hop and some nice "pop" ("Count your blessings").
I have the feeling that if I had 16 years I would like the album, like most of the albums of nowadays. Is not my cup of tea I guess.
Of course it has some lovely/curious sounds, the song "Friends" has a very good guitar over it. And the one called "Patience" has a Bollywood-style voice sample, very curious.

difficult question...maybe something more like [this](
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IOxIusBGIM) (making new riddims) than voicing and remixing the same old riddims again and again...

sounds like sly & robbie regular works but just slightly different.
now this "remix" or whatever you would call it sounds more fresh by far if we talk about "new ideas"

Its a matter of taste, I found this answer re-lick really awful and boring... dont want to sound disrepective, just cant stand this drums/synths sound, and the same old bassline again and again...

@topic:
I heard that album. Not as nice as Damian Marley's earlier albums and not as great as the classic old Nas albums - but quite interessting music and just a good album imho. Nothing more, nothing less.

nothing great if you no expect it to make a million
rememba in past when thinking about making hits it was thinking about riches, millions and all of that
nowadays making music is like going to regular work and not even that, sometimes you dont get shyt as a musician and have to beg family & friends for a living.
as long babylon no fix the musical laws again there will be no quality music,
I am a professional studio worker and I dont belive no one saying "I do music only for love of music" as long it comes out of artist, musician & producer mouth'
and I dont blame no one, except babylon and microchip 666
nas album can be seen as success because thers nothing else like that out by now
but
according to that fact I must also say that vybz kartel album "pon di gaza" is also a great album because it have a mind behind it, it's not just single compilation
but as one of Jah disciples I must put that album in a fire because vybz kartel is a satan admire and worshiper
so I must not buy a album only because its the ONLY album with concept
nas is in the same church as vybz. jr gong is iight. i got my few tunes from album but buy, no man, too much old tune out on7" right now which still must have so I pass
thers a 45 on rudeboy records for "promised land" which is worth to check out
