The CSA label

I couldn't find a thread about this fine UK label...I only have a few issues (Lacksley Castell - Tug A War Games 12" being the best) and was wondering about its owner Clive Stanhope. It sounds like he's now in the book publishing industry?

Great stuff on this label, Raymond Naptali, Buro Banton's debut, Viceroys etc. I just picked up a sealed copy of the CSA Collection vol.2

[cover=3464,3698]

an excellent introduction to the label and the '83 sound!

I think I'm going to use them as well decoration because I can't even get rid of them for 2 euro each :P

Is it this tune?

I agree, pretty boring! But many of the other CSA 12's are excellent.

It seems that Clive Stanhope owned the Burning Sounds family of labels before selling them to Trojan and establishing CSA. Quite a figure in the UK scene I'd say.

Never heard of Clive Stanhope - his name was never mentioned on any of the CSA releases, nor the BS releases. Glad to know- finally- who actually got these labels started.

BTW SKYLARKER: if indeed you speak of the Jr. Brown 12" - shame on you...tune is not at all boring - maybe not popular - but yet another sweet tune from under-rated artist Jr. Brown. Again, if true, sad to see the record not selling.
