The Prophets-King Tubby's Prophecies Of Dub

Post by PapaDave »

Does anyone have any info on this album?
Such as is this a Yabby You production? What songs are the dubs to? I know its a very rare LP, going for alot when I've seen it up on e-Bay.
I know it was released in 1976 on the Prestige lable.
Thanks for any info!!

Steve Barrow said some time ago on the Blood and Fire board:

"Prophesies Of Dub" which bears Yabby's name as producer but contains only one cut produced by him, the remainder being all Striker prods".

Hi Leggo,

If the link to the first LP "King Tubby Prophecies of Dub" (green label) is the same as the Blood and Fire CD of the same title then they are definately two different albums.

I have the Blood and Fire CD and a rip of The Prophets "Prophecy of Dub" (blue cover) and they are definately 2 different albums.

The Prophets "Prophecy of Dub" is made up of Bunny Lee/Agrovattor Rhythms. Dub's to Delroy Wilson, Johnny Clarke, etc.

yabby yous catalogue is an unbelievable mess and the pressing (with the possible exception of the original pressing) are generally atrocious. some great material there but often not whats listed on the cover, and lots of overlap or very confusing liner notes/track lists.

its a shame.

Hey Leggo

Just wondering how the issues you have of Yabby You & Michael Prophet "Vocal & Dub" are both very poor mastered copies yet the Blood & Fire "Dub it To The Top" which contains the tracks from that album is a real crisp sounding release.

Always wondered why it was *filed* under The Gladiators!

Then who are/were The Prophets? Did The Gladiators record as The Prophets with Yabby You or was this name used before they became known as The Gladiators?
