which leads me to another thread, why is roots music so damn expensive? wasnt it supposed to be music for the poor?
i dont like the way things are going and its not like im trying to buy original copies, i cant afford a hundred dollars everytime i want to buy an LP!

this is a japanese pressing, that's why its so expensive. but if you'd prefer to track down the originals... wouldn't this one be the one to go for? not every record is expensive

Its coming out of Japan and its the shipping costs for the shops, buy it direct off the label and cut out the middle man and other costs.and some tunes when they first come out the price is hiked so they sell a lot quick, give it a month or so and the price will be lower.when the single came out last year it was at least double bubble and then was as cheap as the other new tunes after a month or so, its just the way they promote it.

this is true but my thinking is if the record companies want to stay in buisness and compete with internet downloading and free file sharing wouldnt they release all their recordings for lower prices to encourage sales? at the rate we are going with prices of LPs and CDs no one will buy them
except the elite few in this world. and that contradicts itself because like i said earlier roots music is for the poor. it was music for the people buy the people. no record or compact disk should be over $10.00 and i mean that

I think the record companies do that so they get as much as they can before its all over mp3 sites, and you wonder why they use the mp3 download illegal sites and legal sites cos its cheaper than getting from the label itself. The record companies are on a sinking ship and until the sites and mp3 download sites are regalated its only going to get worse.the record companies grab what they can now cos it needs to pay the record compaines bills, not next week but today.I would have something to say to my record company if they started ripping my fans off like that.

i agree with you stepping razor i am against free file sharing but if i cant find it im not gonna sit there and beg the record company to release it. i pay good money for my music and i believe all artists should recieve pay for thier works.

I think you need an extra paper route.Greg wrote:this is true but my thinking is if the record companies want to stay in buisness and compete with internet downloading and free file sharing wouldnt they release all their recordings for lower prices to encourage sales? at the rate we are going with prices of LPs and CDs no one will buy them
