ADINAH EDWARDS:
Jamaican artist who started with her husband (they`re both blind) as a religious duo in the mid fifties. She earned tremendous respect through perseverance and longevity in a financially unrewarding field. An LP of more contemporary Jamaican music was released by Dynamic last year and her "Love I Festival" was the runner up in the Jamaican Song Festival.

JACKIE EDWARDS:
Influential Jamaican artist who began his recording career in 1960 with hits like "Tell Me Darling" and "Your Eyes Are Dreaming" for Chris Blackwell`s Island Records. Gained recognition as a composer when pop group Spencer Davis had hits with his songs, "Keep On Running" and "Somebody Help Me". With Trojan Records he has had reggae hits, including duets with Millie Small. His superb voice has had a marked influence on many of today`s leading Jamaican vocal artists--despite his relative obscurity, even in JA.

DONNIE ELBERT:
His early classic of the falsetto ballad style--"What Can I Do" (King, 1957)--was only successfully followed up by Donnie years later with "Little Piece Of Leather" (Gateway, 1964). He worked in Britain for a while before returning to the States, where his UK recorded "Where Did Our Love Go" sold a million for All Platinum in 1971.

ELDORADOS:
From the streets of Chicago came this bunch of sharp dudes who hit with some finger snappers (including the classic "At My Front Door") and cool ballads before fading in the late `50s.

EIGHTH DAY:
Their first hit "She`s Not Just Another Woman" was in reality a 100 Proof record, but later discs like "You`ve Got To Crawl" and "If I Could See The Light" (Hot Wax) featuring the emotive lead of Melvin Davis gave some popularity to this Detroit based team.

ROY ELDRIDGE:
One of jazz`s most influential trumpeters. Worked with numerous bands in NYC in the `30s but it was as featured soloist with Gene Krupa`s Band (`41-`43) that he made his name. During the `50s and `60s he toured the States and Europe extensively. His biting, driving music has been prolifically recorded for Epic, Verve and many other labels.
