Easily it was a shopping spree I went on in a little used record store in while on hols in Jamaica. For the equivalent of about 35 US dollars I got a gold mine.
Road Block LP by Sammy Dread
Ease Up LP by Linval Thompson
a comp. album called "Hits of 77" on the High Note label
Water Pumpee 12" Johnny Osbourne / Purpleman
Mellow Yellow & Young Ranks "herpes Take Over" LP
Yellowman / Josey Wales 2 Giants Clash LP (missing the cover, unfortunately)
John Holt "Greatest Hits" LP (Studio 1)
Mr Isaacs by Gregory Isaacs (on Micron)
and also a bunch of 7-inches
"New Dress Style" by Jah Thomas (Midnight Rock)
"Nanny Goat" by Larry Marshall (Studio 1)
"I Admire You" by larry Marshall (Black and White)
"Cha la La I need You" - The Maytones (Boss Disco)
"Diseases" Michigan and Smiley (Volcano)
"Sweet Venessa" Thriller U (Penthouse)
They had tons of old vinyl lying around in boxes, and I couldnt get through more than 1/4 of it in a day. Im going back next year! Some of the 7 inches were pretty beat up, but they play fine and they have some character which I like...

well, i just received a near mint copy of Carl Dawkins - Maga Dun (JJ pre) for $10 and it is just lovely. definitely the best cheap buy in recent memory. has that 70 Beverleys sound, very much in the same vein as Cornell's "Let The Music Keep On Playing". it's just not coming off the turntable these past few days.

I got given an original copy of Sibbles 'Garden of Life' on Big Spanner Ajax once, I also found a copy of the Amalgamtated 'Jackpot of hits' for 50 pence, I won a copy of noel Bunny Brown's - Fat Boy on crystal for £8 on eBay a couple of days ago, I consider that to be pretty good value too...

I bought a collection of about 70 LPs and 12"s from an university professor of mine for $100. I told him they were worth a lot more, but he was more interested that they go to a good home. A lot of the collection was run of the mill, but it included the original Jamaican mix of The Heart Of The Congos LP and the Slickers Breakthrough LP. I kept the records I wanted (about 50 of the 70) and sold the rest on E-Bay for about $300. Definitely worth the $100 I spent!

Re: best value reggae you ever bought??
Warning: this story might make you want to hit me. I bought a box of mint Pama pressings from about 1969 - 1970 plus a handfull of Bamboo 45's and some earlier stuff such as West Indians on Dr Bird. £1 each in 1992. I emptied my bank account (I was a teenager back then). I swapped most of them for rubbish funk LP's in the late 90's (idiot) but kept the Bamboo's and the West Indians and a few others. The two I most regret losing were Reggae Boys 'Ba Ba' and 'C N Express' on UK Pama. Mint copies for a quid, swapped for bloody Parliment LPs. What was I thinking? Idiot!

Got it in a 1 for 1 trade from a rock/psych collector in the UK.
Traded him a classic rock/psych album that I paid ¢75 for at the Goodwill Thrift store.
