On an album he did in JP with a bunch of local bands, "Japa-Rico: Rico Rodriguez Meets Japan" Rico sings a cover of "Danny Boy" that is one of the saddest versions I've ever heard. Just rips at my heart.

I find that i usually don't like reggae covers, unless i hear the reggae version before the original.

Wicked rootsy lovers version of the Righteous Brothers' "You've lost that loving feeling"

It's not really a cover, is it? Just that he uses the phrase "You've lost that loving feeling", but the melody is nothing like it?

one missing mention:

Sydney, George and Jackie - Papa was a rolling stone (temptations)

gives the original a serious run for its money.

on Jamaica Funk, a compilation on the (ill) UK based Soul Jazz Records label (http://www.roots-archives.com/release/5229). Also a few other covers including two nice Augustus Pablo versions of "Ain't no sunshine" (bill withers)...

my 2 cents
