Did anyone attend last night's presentation of FFRENCH in San Diego?
Nice concert though it could have been better!

Re: ROBERT FFRENCH CONCERT!
That backing band was terrible... not even in the right key... It's sad that they back a lot of these artists that come to town... they're some kind of Spanish-Jesus reggae band... horrible...
Robert French was good but got to syrupy towards the end...
Is that the same Adam bom that posted that KING of Kings reggae shop had the best selection of vinyl in Socal? You must be the owner cause that place has like 20 lps and maybe 5 good ones... there are no Reggae shops in SD that know vinyl... the only one that did closed down a while ago...

Re: ROBERT FFRENCH CONCERT!
if i had my way roots cov would be backing. im sure we al fancy different particulars but not every day that a star like that comes thru. It can always be better but i would have been satisfied with a trashcan band inna doug funny stylee. nuff politics dictating the scene, just gotta roll with it. second hand shops are few n far between in the states, nothing new, esp for reggae. and given how many feinds (postive connotation) there are in daygo, any heaters that may show up are going to be picked over and or reserved. if you were to contact adam, im positive hed have something of interest for u. heck hit me up for that matter.

Yes bandit, im def not hating on the scene, just speaking out loud what others were saying... But any one who knows reggae, cant tell me that is the best roots band in SD... they get the show because the pro moters in the band and thats the ego taking over... Man, ive tried so many times to go that shop in chula vista and they never open.. even on a friday at noon time? That's just bad management... then when I get in there, the youth working is just clueless, yapping on his cell phone, tryin to sell me some wackies cd for $22... Just lame... I can remember going to trade roots on rosecrans and that place was stocked... every Friday U.P.S. dropping off Nuff music... I heard they moved but never got a chance to check the new location... that's the SD shop vibes I know straight back from the '80s...

Re: ROBERT FFRENCH CONCERT!
The venue was ok, however as you guys mentioned, Mr French at the end got into a different mood (perhaps it was the ladies getting ina fight or perhaps the band). The backing band was horrible as French mentioned himself that they did not know many tunes. What I also didn't like is that he was singing CUT EYE, CUT EYE, MOTHER IN LAW, or GWAAN GO DO IT and he did not finish the song completely he just sang the beginning. If ROOTS COVENANT had backed French like they did Johnny Clarke, it would have been a great concert!
@kickdrum-True, king of kings was not what I expected, the teen working there may have dreads and all but has no clue to many reggae stuff, the shop is ok though. Trade Roots never relocated, it was my favorite shop too.

you guys are lucky. i really wish i was 21. theres hardly any cruical playin for all ages. Also king of kings has weak selection, im pretty sure they buy everything from EB and just add a little more to the price.
