I see. I thought it sounded a bit odd since I hadn't noticed it on any of the actual records. :D A pity that Badda Music isn't active any longer. They released some incredible stuff. Those two dub albums from DEB, the Mawamba and some other stuff really were some of the best reissues around.

Last summer when working in Oslo, Norway I was listening to that 20th Century DEB-Wise daily for almost two months (one of very few CD's I had brought with me) and didn't tire once. Even when I put it on today it sounds as thrilling. Proper rhythms with nice mixing.

Don't know the Mawamba set, but the DEB stuff has been in CONSTANT rotation for me since the BAF re-issue of UMOJA/20th... This is also the first I've heard of Badda (seems like it was a good unit - again, another re-issue company with heart goes away), just can't WAIT to get those discs in!! Now to look for the Mawamba set...

WOW, just got my CD's in the post - DJ TRACKING and HOUSE OF DEB. AMAZING! Track by track liner notes with sources of dubs, history of DEB Music and remastered just great! Still trying to find out HOW MANY DEB Music productions Badda Music put out, there are 4 other CD's listed on the OBI strip that was on it...

Markey,
Can you please post the sources for the songs? I have the vinyl version of this on Badda and don't believe it had that info included. Thanks
Also, as mentioned before, I know of at least 2 more albums Badda put out that I own, Junior Delgado-Brothers and the compilation ablum Black Echoes. Both are killer.

Sure!
"House of Deb" (DEBCD08)
1. The Emperor (Earl Cunningham "Words Of My Father)
2. Sounds of Freedom (Desi Roots "Warning")
3. Scrub It (Freddie McKay "Mop and Cry")
4. 3rd Generation (Black Uhuru "Wood For My Fire")
5. Carpentry (source not listed)
6. Shaka The Warrior (Dennis Brown "Slave Driver")
7. Lagos (source not listed)
8. Satta (source not listed)
9. 4th Generation (Black Uhuru "Rent Man")

"DJ Tracking" (DEBCD09)
1. The Creator (Earl Cunningham "Words Of My Father)
2. The Fisherman (Dennis Brown "Cup of Tea")
3. Fifty One Storm (Junior Delgado "Famine")
4. Saturday Night (Junior Delgado "Trickster")
5. Sugar and Spice (Tamlins "I Got A Feeling")
6. Dreadlock Disciple (Dennis Brown "Slave Driver")
7. Rent Man (Black Uhuru "Rent Man")
8. Lightning Ball (source not listed)
9. Murder (Junior Delgado "Trickster")
10. Zo Tarry Yah (Junior Delgado "Warrior")

I can try to figure out the "source not listed" tracks, but have not had a chance to really sit down with these CD's yet and put the headphones on.

Hope this helps!

Listening to a borrowed copy of Delgado's "Brothers" now, it's fantastic! Thanks for the tip - I rely on the generosity of RA Massive's encyclopedic knowledge to guide my hand on the roots classics that I have not heard yet...
Now to look for a copy of my own...

BTW, can anyone confirm that this CD does in fact exist?
[cover=2572,2962]
I can find mentions of it online - reviews, OLD links to it being on sale - but can't find a copy to purchase - even in the usual overpriced channels!
Thanks!

Thanks Marky. Here is a link to another website I had forgotten about that has a lot of DEB info.

Not a Badda Music release, but if you're searching for more of the DEB productions on CD then this Junior Delgado is worth seeking out

It's the reissue of his sublime *Effort* LP from 1979, one of the best roots vocal albums of the period for me.
