Not sure...
I have been really digging on that Trojan two disc set "Sipple Out Deh", especially the 2nd disc.
Mistry Babylon and my new favorite, Land Of Love....GREAT tune!

I wouldn't disagree that this is a masterpiece, but I've always found myself returning to "Return Of....." when I need a Scratch fix. It's Scratch on the brink of chaos, the final cohesive moment before things fall apart on "Roast Fish" (which also happens to be a favourite......).Mick Sleeper wrote:Super Ape. Hands down, Lee Perry's finest moment.
It's hard to assign "just one" to that great period.
Best Vocal LP: "Party Time" - The Heptones
Best DJ LP: "Natty Passing Through" - Prince Jazzbo

I would have to say that it is difficult to choose a best compilation with all the good ones that have been put out over the years. I really enjoy ones like Open The Gate and Build The Ark, I LOVE Arkology, and the newer PS releases are filled with gems.
If I had to pick one to take with me to a desert island, it would be Arkology

Re: Favorite Lee Perry Black Ark Album
My top four...
"Scratch The Super Ape" ( the original mix )
"Upsetters 14 Dub Blackboard Jungle" ( again, the Original )
"Upsetter Shop Vol. 1 - Upsetter In Dub"
"Return Of The Super Ape"
I purposely didn't include LPs like War Ina Babylon or Heart of the Congos because they are more individual LPs as opposed to Scratch's own creations or comps like Open The Gate or Disco Devil.
I would be interested to see everyone else's favorite SCRATCH albums are in this context.

I really love the Perry-produced Vin Gordon and the Upsetters "Musical Bone". Don't know if it fits in this topic's category. Maybe it wasn't recorded/mixed at the Ark?

I've always liked that album, too. Certainly not a knock out album, but some great vibes. Check an article I wrote about it and the other instrumental albums Scratch created at the same time:Gabranth wrote:I really love the Perry-produced Vin Gordon and the Upsetters "Musical Bone".
