Yes, you're quite right Jumbo. "Be Still" was the first outing for those lyrics, 2years before they resurfaced in Blazing Fire.

Re: Don't Move - Pick A Dub
Having looked into this a bit more I think that the poster on another forum (B&F) was just guessing that there may have been a Keith Hudson record called "Be Still". I've never heard anyone else mention it and it's not listed in RKR.
I think the most likely explanation for Don't Move is that it was only ever a dub. Nothing I've ever seen or heard about Pick a Dub mentions the source of "Don't Move".
You probably know all this already but apparently Junior Walker, Keith Hudson's friend, wanted an exclusive set of dubs for his Black Equinox Sound System. Keith Hudson made the dubs including recuts of Sattamassa Gana and Declaration of Rights but there were others as well. Some of them may have been original rhythms. Junior Walker claims that he co-produced the Pick a Dub album and he was allowed to pick the tracks he wanted to make the dub mixes for the album hence the name Pick-A-Dub. Junior Walker then secretly released the album in the UK which may not have gone down well with Keith Hudson although it seems they worked together again.
I cannot confirm any of the above but my guess is that "Don't Move" may have been one of the dubs laid down for the sound system and, when picked for the Album, Hudson may have laid some vocals on it. It probably never saw the light of day as a released tune with vocals on it. Otherwise, it seems hard to believe that in over 40 years no one has come out with the source of the track which is on one of the most famous dub albums ever.
One way of checking would be to ask Junior Walker. His LinkedIn profile is at http://uk.linkedin.com/pub/junior-walker/2b/1a8/77b
I'm quite intrigued by this now and hope that someone may know some more detail.
Regards
Rob

Rob, many thanks for the useful input and the background. I didn't know any of the story surrounding this album.
I will try to get in touch Mr. Walker. Any results will be posted.
Thanks again.

Re: Don't Move - Pick A Dub
Info from Vince Ellis' excellent Keith Hudson discography
Be Still - adapted from “Be Still” by Derrick Morgan, first recorded for Leslie
Kong in 1962 on the Beverly’s label.
Be Still - Keith Hudson (I Broke The Comb LP test pressing) 1975
Don't Move - Keith Hudson and Family Man (Pick A Dub LP) 1975
P.S. He also vehemently disputes Junior Walkers version of the events surrounding the album

Re: Don't Move - Pick A Dub
Is there any more info on that LP in the discography, marmalade? First time I hear about it. I've heard that there are more blank dub LP's from Keith Hudson that have yet to be "discovered". It was mentioned by the Dub Archives-guy in a thread over at Blood & Fire some time ago.

Hi Kalcidis, this is Lloyd from the other place! Here's the relevant info on the unreleased album, and the discography has information on other unreleased albums from the time - I cannot recommend Vincent's discography enough, here's a link to buy it;

Record Specialists Limited Test Pressing JA - 1975

In many ways the vocal companion or template for ‘Pick A Dub’ as four
vocal tracks* (and two of their dubs) are the master tracks from which
new dubs were created for the ‘Pick A Dub’ album to follow. Mastered
in the Spring of 1975 at Record Specialists Ltd., at one point a
planned Mamba release.

Re: Don't Move - Pick A Dub
Thanks for the info Marmalade. So there definitely was a vocal cut of "Be Still". That disproves my guess. I wonder if the test press of the album still exists and, if so, who has it?
Presumably Vince Ellis's DVD discography is in a format that will play on any PC?
