I have given up on vinyl. Back to mp3. No weight, no scratches, no packaging, no ernie b.

Rasta lives beyond black plastic!
Strange hearing that comming from you Vlad still 30% of jamaicans reggae output is only available on vinyl. Despite the repress/mp3/YT business. True it is a guess but based on experience. I find 'new'tunes on vinyl on a weekly basis for 20 years now.

Siegi, as one grows older, one develops an attraction for "less is more", parting from material goods. Sound is basically immaterial, hence vinyl is an old fashioned concept that will die. Like you, if I really want something that is only on vinyl, I will still purchase. And I still have occasional bursts of "get it while you can" impulse buys. For example, I couldn't resist buying Clinton Fearon's Goodness LP, as I think this is some of the most convincing/positive modern roots reggae I've heard recently, and I want to support the band.

Vinyl has resisted better than CD's, even has a rejuvenation period right now, but it will dive back into history, leaving only limited nostalgics collecting it. Only a matter of time, the master. Virtual is the way fwd, including for Jah music.

Why pollute the world with more packaging, more transportation, and more plastic when you can get it streamed online?...

Nice outlook Vlad and true concerning new vinyl although I think vinyl always will be appreciated. I think and hope you will have a group of people who use Mp3 on their Phone and in their Car when they are on the move thus mobile. But want to listen at home to vinyl. But that group will probably die in the next comming 30 years. Or not. :)

But I was talking about second hand which plastic already exists but not virtual. You can save those tunes by buying them and get them on mp3 and distribute them thru YT or among friends. And there is were I meet you again.

I agree and face that dilemma on a frequent basis. The collector in me wants the CD/vinyl for the sleeve, the linear notes, the matrixes, and to see the way the item was initially designed. Plus the fun of spinning… I also prefer AIFF/FLAC non-compress files (but the industry is starting to adjust). But at the same time, I'm also aware of carbon footprint and waste generated of producing these items. I'm currently doing a bachelor in environmental studies… Collecting is clearly a hobby… Don't know if I would be able to cure myself and definitively turn exclusively digital.
Most underrated contemporary roots artist: Tiken Jah Fakoly. Selection of compilations I would suggest: Joe Gibbs Productions (Soul Jazz), Don't Call Us Immigrants (Pressure Sounds), We Are Getting Bad: The Sound Of Phase One (Motion), Arkology (Island).

Just ordered "I Am The Gorgon," the Bunny Lee DVD (plus CD), for $5.99 from EB. With domestic shipping that's still under $10.00. No complaints about that....keep it up, EB.

There is also a reggae-only filter up and running now, which is a nice improvement.

Look no further for the inclusion of Neil Young or Van Morrison on a previously only reggae website as sound business:

Indeed, 2014 was the best year for vinyl in the USA (and probably the world) since 1991. That is amazing. In 1991, vinyl was all but dead. It just started vanishing!

Frankly, I would do the best if I had a record business and enough storage. In fact, Honest Jon does it, so why not EBreggae. The world is polluted with loads of plastic, true, but perhaps recorded vinyl is the last one to hit the oceans...

Nice that vinyl is back. Yeah let him make some extra bucks with selling Neil Young. No problem.

It's great if EB's can make money from non reggae music , it's just a shame that the reggae has had to decrease for this to happen :(

No Buyreggae reissues
No ReggaeFever reissues
No Pressure Sounds
No Onlyroots
No Iroko
No Tuff Scout
No Roots Garden
