Re: Sons of Jah - Anthem... Meaning?
Thy voice through the deep has[..] hath spoken...
Ethiopia nah [..]for her lands...
I think it is :
"Ethiopia nah stretch forth her lands" (hands?)
It reminds me the "africa shall stretch forth her hands" album by mighty three, but anyway i never got the meaning of this title... anyone can help ?

i think that album title refers to Ethiopia, in particular Shashemene welcoming any black person who would like to go back there.

Re: Sons of Jah - Anthem... Meaning?
Greetings,
I recently noticed the same lyrics in "Ethiopian National Anthem" by The Sons Of Negus, and did more seraching:
http://www.ethioportal.com/about_ethopia.asp
The Last National Anthem of the Kingdom of Ethiopia (till 1974)
Ethiopia land of our fathers
the land where our God wants to be
like bees to a hive swiftly gather
God children are gathered to thee.
With our red, gold and green floating for us
and our Emperor to shield us from wrong
with our hope and our future before us
we hail and we chant and we sing
God bless our Negus, Negus I
who keeps Ethiopia free
to advance with truth and right, truth and right
to advance with love and light, love and light.
With righteousness pleading
we hail to our God and King.
Humanity pleading - one God for us all
Ethiopia the tyrants are falling
who once smote thee ´pon thy knee.
Thy children are heartically calling
Jahoviah - the great one has heard us.
He has come to protect us from wrong.
He has sent his holy angel to guide us
and to protect us in this time
who keeps Ethiopia free....
to advance with truth and right, truth and right
to advance with love and light, love and light.
With righteousness pleading
we hail to our God and King.
Humanity pleading - one God for us all

Glad to see someone finally found the reference for the song. Want to point out that there is a 12" of this with a monster instrumental on the B-side with Wya Lindo playing what sounds like a Hammond B-3. Totally wicked!!!
