New Official Bob Marley Remix Album!!

Most if the Island 12" remixes [Waiting In Vain for example] are far superior to the original LP mixes. Same applies to Studio 1 singles repress [Rudie, Just In Time, Another Dance, Put It On etc]. Surely most Heartbeat Wailers have been remastered too for a better hi fi sound too?

More $$$$ for the Marley estate yes, but I'd guess anyone who has put down this new remix release has not heard it yet.

OK Fred, personally I can't see what's wrong with the songs or the one mix that I heard. No matter, I won't be buying it.

Well... my problem is, that is it REALLY neccesary to remix and mess with such old classics like this? Is it really? No, it isnt, thats my personal oppinion. The original songs is so damn good, so why touch sumpthing thats allready perfect?
I hope they dont mess with "Soul Rebel", then I get really pissed!!

i am surprised by such overwhelming negativity regarding this album. i agree that these remixes are not as good as the originals, but that doesnt mean that the originals are being replaced or tainted, or that one cant listen to them still.

I also agree that the $$$ is probably the reason for this album. i will not buy it, i will probably download it however.

there are a few positive aspects to be considered, mainly that his music will surely be heard (albeit in altered form) by new ears that might not get into reggae. it may lead to many lifelong loves for roots music that wouldnt have happened if it werent for this album. many people into other genres of music with no conscious message will be able to hear the words of unity and love.

it might seem like an abomination to go remixing bob's songs, but if you dont like it, you dont have to listen/buy/support it. but we should be looking for the light in the darkness, shouldnt we?
