My all time favourite song with the Bag-O-Wire lyrics has to be Dillingers cut, has to be his hardest tune eva...

It's a toast over johnny clarkes song, does anyone know the title to this dillinger tune i refer to? i must dig this one out, i know i have it somewhere, theres a real heavy dub version with lots of lightening+thunder effects that sound great

I guess you're talking about "Selassie I" on Bionic Dread album but i think it's over Mighty Diamonds no ?

there's Mighty Diamonds "Them never love por Marcus" son, Tapper Zukie version "Marcus" on MPLA, U Roy version "Poor Marcus" on "The Lost album" and certainly some others.

yeh i think your right, it is mighty diamonds, i always mix up the two songs by johnny clarke and the diamonds. When i say it's a toast over that song, i ment they just use the chorus of that song on it, i don't think it's the full song.

though it sounds quite alike, I'd bet Spear talks about the "son of St Ann", not the "son of satan", who "first prophecized..."

bag o wire is a reference to a close relative to Garvey who, according to the urban legend, betrayed his friend by giving away a lot of details on his plans etc, while he was trying to enter the jamaican political scene once deported from America. I think Big Youth says he shall be stoned with stones...
