fixing rare and pricelss "warped" vinyl records

Yup, the 12" was purchased in Kingston...too bad, I bought a whole heap of vinyl and only the one album had this affliction. So, I shouldn't try to fix it for fear of ruining the good side???

Does it play at all? Yes? Then leave it.

Or is the stylus jumping off the surface completely? Then try loading the stylus with a penny or something.

If that fails, then I think you've got a dud and are going to have to make do with just the one side because I am unconvinced about any process that claims to sort a warped vinyl record.

hail up leggo,

yeah, all the records them me have are all in cases, 12" size cases for my discos and LPs them and also 45 cases for my 7" 45. the dj clash billy boyo/ little harry is warped only slightly and yes its jus warped from storage in the cases. is just hot round my area, dun matter where i put the cases its hot or jus really warm. i braught them in aniother room with no sunlight. but it shouldn't i would think since there all in cases. should i make the case fully loaded to where its tight or should it be loose fit in the case? i heard 2 different stories of preventing storage warp. but i need the real truth of how it should be stored properly. i'm really a worry rat and fear of other vinyl of mine suffering the same fate os the dj clash. i'll show you a list of some vinyl, that i am worried for:

I pack all my cases with extra card if they are not full. I have card stiffeners in at both ends to cushion the records from the side of the case/

I had a thought about vinyl storage in hot areas.

Either: Dig a cellar, the temperature os constant and lower underground.

Or: Sounds crazy, but what about getting a load of old chest freezers and packing your cases into them. Just turn them on for a few minutes eac h day to keep it slightly chilled int here and the insulation should then keep the heat off. Yep, I said it was a crazy idea!

i've put my vinyls as high as possible in case there would be a flood, just taking a look at what's happening in UK makes me think i have had a good idea

Hmm, good point Seb. My home town of Lincoln got flooded bad, but although my records were all on the floor they staid dry - because I live half way up the hill!

While I feel very sorry for those devastated by the flooding, I have to say that anyone who buys a house by a river is either mad, or has a boat!

RE warped/off centre on one side

I can see how an 'off centre' pressing can be made to one side and not the other. The stamper that each side is pressed from will consist of two different plates and it is conceivable that one would not be lined up properly?
