Many Japaneese ebay buyers (record traders) paid high prices for roots vinyl. They sell with profit. So prices for reggae LPs must be sky high ina Japan. Anyone knows some datails?

Aint that the truth. But if you want greensleeves vinyl you'll more than likely have to slug it out on ebay.uk where very little goes under the radar. :Xleggo rocker wrote: When ebay changed the way they displayed stuff listed outside the USA they cut a lot of people off from their export markets.
You now have to be very careful how you search or you'll miss stuff. Many buyers still don't realise this.

Its really a mistery for me, there is kind of magic...!! Of course there was a cultural indluence that came together with the economic revolution, but still reggae has a strooonnngggg echo in this country... why?

Thanks brothers... just checked the post one day after and coulfnt expect so great explanations... Thanks Wareika for this long explanation, I fully agree with you, what happend with jazz must have happend with reggae... and especially if music has some similarities as said selecta bing.
Still, it keeps some kind of magic, it could have happened in Thailand, in South Korea... But it only happend in Japan...
Leggo, agree with you bout ebay... but as you, as me... every reggae vinyl addict now look on different ebay places!!
Guidance and thanks to all!!

Not that magic, Thailand is not as developped as Japan. Look where goes most of the sales (i mean high prices sales) : Japan, UK, US, France, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Sweden, etc. what's the common point : a lot of people are wealthy in those countries and all are democratic countries, and some of these wealthy people are vinyl junkies.Litelet wrote: Still, it keeps some kind of magic, it could have happened in Thailand, in South Korea... Look at this list : http://hdr.undp.org/hdr2006/statistics/
eliminate the small countries and you find almost the same list.

Litelet,
I was just about to say the same. It has happened to me two or three times recently. The Japaness buyers certainly know their stuff. I have no complaints though, it is good for the sellers.
Regards
Rob

Better stop worrie about the Japanese. The economical grow this asian comunities are having will let us feel it.When they decide to use their 11% economical growth in a trimester and star biding for records is possible that none of us can compete and get any. The same will happend when they decide to eat more rice & beans. So start saving brethrens. Its possible that their money is worth less than euros but they are growing at a much faster scale.More than any economical power ever grow at any time...

Nefta, you mix up, China & Japan. China growth is 11% a year for the past quarter. But Japan is close to 0/1% a year. Japan is just coming out from a long long deflation period...
