I'm playing Never Run Away by Don Carlos and Gold on Kingdom Records right now. Plenty of nice roots lovers on this.

Fantastic stuff, very understated vocals, really laid back singing on tough riddims.

Can't find it listed in he database though!

The compilations "Relaxing with lovers" (Vol 1 to 8) are great...

Also you have a lot af groups like
"Love & Unity (the first band of Sandra Cross),
Love Joys,
Brown Sugar,
Natural Touch,
the "greatests hits" of The Investigators
or "Magic Touch" from Deb Music

but if you are talking about lovers.. you can't forget the original queens of lovers rock: Janet Kay and Carroll Thompson!

True, they both made some nice lovers. But their style is real lovers rock - 80s stylee, and not so much roots lovers.

I'm always banging on about it but "Presenting Jennifer Lara" on Studio 1 is superb.

I think you got enough sugestions. From them I recommend all Sugar Minott albuns, Junior Delahaye and Mr Ska Bean'a of Alton Ellis with The Heptones. You can look for some albuns of Alton Ellis and Thge Heptones and you'll find very good lovers music.

Blessed Love

In my opinion (and with respect to Gregory Isaacs):

Sugar Minott = The King of Lovers Rock

Carroll Thompson = The Queen of Lovers Rock

There's even a duet by them on 12 inch. Can't remember off hand what the song is, I'll have to try and dig it out.

I've just played 'Vibes' 12 inch extended version by Sugar Minott. Can there be a better soulful reggae tune than this? Pure emotion and such wonderful sugar sweet vocals!
