Thanks Dougie, I didnt know those Channel One pre-releases on dubplates existed. Did some songs only had this dubplate pre-release and not a proper release? If so it makes dubplates from that period even more interesting.

No I only bought this one and there werent others. Not finding the songs on the internet made it interesting. Also I believed that this kind of labelling and type of dubplate are the 'older'ones. But maybe I am wrong. There isnt that much info on dubplates.

Also it is interesting to hear about the sound(systems) in the 80'. Much is known about the older one. But I didnt read much about the soundsystems end of 70'and beginning half of the 80'. But maybbe I didnt have the right book(s) at my shelve.

But thanks for the knowledge that there are some pre-releases channel one on dubplates.

I don't believe they sell pre-releases like that anymore. You can still get SPECIALS (dubplates touting your sound as the best and putting down all other sounds) that way though.

Usually on the pre-releases dubplates you either didn't get a label or you would get say a Jammy's or Arrows's Studio label on the plates and you would write in the tracks and artists if you had enough room to write.

The pre-releases was a way to pay additional money tobe the first or only sound to play a particular track plus you had the version for the DJ to dee jay to.

Respect!

Was that Frankie Jones »How Do You Quit« ever released properly? I've heard it on a couple of Gemini tapes and absolutely love it.
