Pls help with name artist studio and year

Post by Ziggy »

Hi,

Bought a 10'' dubplate. Question, http://www.reggae-wise.eu/question.mp3 who is this artist, studio and year. Hope you can help me. The sticker list the titles: Heard you are going away and other side: How do you quit. Sounds like begin 80'end of 70'Channel One.

Thanks in advance.

You dont need to look for in the 70s it is a 80s tune, absolutely sure... Would say 1983-1984

The first track sounds like Frankie Jones but the second track sounds a little like U U Madoo and I believe I have the album with the track but its boxed away and I won't be able to put my hands on it anytime soon.

Any chance you bought that dubplate (actually a pre-release on a dubplate blank) from England? I lost several of those in England when I was there from 89-91. All were Channel 1 pre-releases, each side usually had the vocal on track 1 followed by the version on track 2. Had all the top artists Dennis Brown, Sugar Minott, Mighty Diamonds, Frankie Jones, Anthony Johnson, etc.

If the track label is still on it, were the tracks and artist name typewriter written?

Just curious. Finders keepers losers weepers!!

Thanks Dougie for describing the second artist. All you are saying about the dubplate is true. Accept the tracklabels are handwritten and only stating the name of the songs/dubs. see pic. http://www.reggae-wise.eu/question%202.jpg
