i've always thought that Augustus Pablo's music had a "sinister" feel to it - all those minor chords...
thinking of "555 Crown Street" in particular - sounds like the soundtrack to an old west showdown...

If it's Prince Far-I with menace, try the contemptuous "Virgin" for straight to the head of a famous man, and "Heavy Manners".
As for the Heptones, a lot of their stuff has edge; "Tripe Girl", "Country Boy", and any number of bitter songs of lost love. They make it sound sweet but sour too. Also for overall effect of power and apocalypse by them, "Through The Fire I Come". Superfierce.
Beyond those artists there is "White Man" - a blank with no artist credits from circa 71. Wouldn't like to repeat dem lyrics deh. Oh no.
How about The Stopper from Cutty Ranks? Pure toughness, a relentless storm of roughneck raggamuffin vibes.
Man get scared just thinking about these things!

One more - the Black Ark discomix of Ketch Vampire with the horns, weird chorus and Dr. Alimantado toasting is pretty damn menacing IMHO

Worries In The Dance, this version:

The sirens and dog barks - in addition to the lyrical content, heavy riddim, and reverb and delay - really paint a picture of a dimly lit alley to me.
