The first reggae album I ever purchased was "Black Roots" back in 1980, it was the album that hooked me onto reggqe music.
My world has been a better place from that day on.
Thanks Sugar for opening my eyes to a whole new world, you took reggae forward and it never looked back.
Your passing is a massive, massive loss which will leave a void that just cannot be filled.
RIP

Re: Sugar Minott (dead?)
I had tickets to see Sugar Minott with Sister Carol on Friday night in San Diego. He did not perform. I had no idea he was so ill. What a wonderful artist. RIP.

Hmmmnn... Geez, am in utter shock and complete dismay. R.I.P. Lincoln Sugar "Booga" Minott, for it was you with the syrupy sweet voice who gave us those beautiful roots gems and dynamic dancehall masterpieces. It was you, sir, who gave back to the Kingston ghetto youth with the Youth Promotion/Black Roots Sounds... Pure niceness!
Today, the reggae world and the world in general lost a true gifted pioneer of an artist and a caring, giving human being. There will never be another Sugar... Just glad I got to shake your hand once about 15 years ago on stage at the DNA in San Francisco. Wicked, wicked show as you would expect!
The next few days or... uh, week or month will be dedicated to you, the one-and-only Sugar Minott! Let the music play on, let it play on... for Zion's lights are shining bright tonight with the horns blazing and the sweet, sweet voice of Sugar... R.I.P.

Very sad news indeed, BIG respect to the original Herbman Hustling! One of the most distinctive voices in the entire music industry, he will be greatly missed.
