ok, so wackies only remixed old songs? did they record any new vocals too? i have a sugar minott tune name "hi hello" its on a revolution riddim which i never used to hear on no other label, where does it come from? Ive seen a picture of wackies studio in n.y. and it no have no space for a band in it.
yeah they had an ok studio and also used other studios in New York as well. You can clearly see it on the wackies documentary dvd.

They used tapes from a variety of sources: the black ark ( little roy -tribal war is a good example) tubby's as well. But also created things themselfs, or recorded tracks for a whole variety of other small mainly US labels.

Quite a few tunes on the same riddim as that Hi Hello piece ( heptones - streets of gold is a nice one) originally an early Studio One production, but forgot the name of it, think it was by the heptones as well.

this is the original though ( not on revolution riddim) Never heard that other cut before, think it was made at a later date
