there should be a seperate thread about bogus labels that release fake dub. there's quite a few, Rhino among them. US chain stores are loaded with CD's like these for very cheap.

here's a bad one -

not sure about the LP from 1985, but Steve Barker wrote a review of this CD and said Roy Cousins had someone overdub bits of Prince Far I onto the rhythms to make this album, rhythms that Far I had nothing to do with.

doctoring up the music like that, years after the fact, is as just as bad as some phony releases such as Rhino, etc.

thanks to 6anbatte, musik maker and rob b for your contributions.more echo, more bass..i love that, musik maker!nice post there...yes, scientist must cringe at some of the bilge put out in his name on rhino and esoldun . even worse for the likes of men like prince fari, a pablo and tubby who are long gone and fakesters have the "right" to put tinny crap out as "dub" in their name!!
Rob b...well i heard that album ages ago, certainly nothing special about it. It doesnt surprise me that Fari has had his vocals superimposed artificially on the cd, as the riddims are mostly from scientist albums on kingdom , which i do know cousins released...produced or whatever..WITHOUT fari vocal touch..is that the album that starts with "special request to the man call gregory isaac " said by fari? now that bit i did like.

Hi Sean

I think you are referring to "Negusa Nagast" by Knowledge & Prince Far I from "Dubbing With The Royals" - http://www.roots-archives.com/release/3635

Recently "dovetailed" the dub cuts from this album with "Pick Up The Pieces". Awesome stuff.

Just listened to the intro of that and I might be wrong. I'll have to investigate further! Could have sworn it was that track.

Hi,

Special Request to Gregory Isaacs is the first track on Cry Freedom Dub.

As for the Magabit Dub album. These are all rythems from Roy Cousin Tamoki Wambesi label.

These tracks, some of which pre date 1985, have not been dubbed over as Prince Far I voiced some of them previous to this date.

Some of these tracks appear on the "Dubbing with the Royals" which was recorded in the 70`s.

Where this album falls down is the fact it is credited to Prince Far I when he only does a few intro`s. But then you could say the same about other dub albums credited to him.

I personally do not think it is anywhere near the worst / dubious dub album on the market.

Yes chaps you are right. "Free Jah Jah Children" from "Cry Freedom Dub". My mistake.

Incidentally, I find it difficult to believe that Roy Cousins was involved in any sharp practice as I am pretty sure he kept his job at the Post Office which enabled him to pay musicians even when he himself hadn't been paid monies owing.

I'll try and find where I read that and quote it verbatim.
