mornin leggo, two of my favourite LPs of all time by the excellent ijahman. in my opinion the Haile i hymn LP is one of the best examples of any singers personal soul searching ever to be captured on wax. a beautiful piece, very under rated at the time (from what i've read, i was only a pickney then)but a record i love, especially Zion hut. are we a warrior is another super record, i think very similar in style to the first, the title track being one of my favourites, also miss beverley which has an excellent intro and of course the mighty moulding. super stuff. must also say, side 2 of the LP culture country has 3 beautiful songs, ijahman and his guitar, lovely lovely versions. check them out. time to go and earn my corn. dread out.

Re: Just Curiosity, WHAT'S ON YOUR TURNTABLE NOW?
Morning 6anbatte,
long since I´ve heard ´Scientific Dub'. I like all
of Brad´s Comps. which I have. My favourite
track is ´Little flute chant´ a hauntingly beautiful
version of ´Words´ from Scratch & Company on which
Brad presumably doctored a little bit on his own,
but the Mighty Upsetter cannot be angry for this
successful prank.
Finally received ´Flashing Echo´and ´Dublanding´.
´Out of order Dub´ is a real Dubmonster -WOW!
Jammy at his very best!
Last week I dug in my CD Junkbox to give ´Raiders
of the lost Dub´ another listen, since some seem
to like that album. Can´t help myself, definitely
don´t like it. Overloaded with funny effects
it sounds more a precursor of the digiaera to me.

Gibey:
Agreed, Raiders is is a misser. I really don't like that LP.
Ital kemar:
When Haile Hymn came out it was a very popular record in my circle of reggae friends and we played it a lot while we sat smoking and joking and reasoning. Many of us had the disk, or at least copy of it on tape! So I think, then at least, it was well rated. Now I have the record again, two copies, one original release, and one white label pre-release. And it is very special music. Very deep.
Thanks for the review of 'Warrior' I will add that to my infinity list (want list)
This morning I have woken my neighbourhood with:
Marcus' Children - Burning Spear - Burning Spear label.
Played LOUD (as all reggae music should be)
I hope they liked it - I do!

Hey Gibey
Good to hear you like "Out of Order Dub". I have a "horrible" tendency to play Jammy's version of Ken Boothe's "You're No Good" drop in "Out Of Order Dub" and then back in You're No..." Checks in at about 15 minutes! Awesome.
I must see if I have ´Little flute chant´ at home.
Thankfully I don't have "Raiders..."
On the turntable last night - "Original Rockers" - Pablo. I'd forgotten how good that is. Must dust down "Ital Dub" tonight.

Re: Just Curiosity, WHAT'S ON YOUR TURNTABLE NOW?
Hard day today, so I really need soothing.
So I started the evening with vocal harmony:
The Gladiators - The Gladiators - Virgin label
Very nice sounds in general although a slightly patchy LP - some tracks classic, some not so.

Live Paris-Ziguinchor by Toure Kunda
They're from Senegal, with a sound about half-way between High-Life and Reggae. I don't speak French, but it doesn't matter, the vocals on this one are great!
leggo rocker, I think ital kemar's reply pretty much covers it. Miss Beverly was the song I started hearing in my head that prompted me to spin the album yesterday. When a given tune plays itself up there ya know ya gotta spin it.
I like both albums, but never owned Haile I Hymn. When I was younger and sharing living space with friends someone else always had a copy. I think the telling thing it that I never picked up a copy for myself. I think I should remedy that soon.
