Anyway - I received this today. Seems like the release date was 15th October after all...

If you've got any of the other Reggae Legends boxes, you'll know what to expect presentation-wise - mini sleeves with reproduction album art (front only) in a box. Looks as though they've printed the CDs with approximations (some of them are just one colour over silver only) of the actual LP centre label this time though.

Only listened to 'Black Star Liner' so far. The sound seems okay to me. Some riddims on that album that I've never heard anywhere else too...

By the way - what race is Fred Locks? In some photos, he looks like a tanned white guy - and he has green eyes.

Not that it makes any difference - just that I didn't think that there were any white rastas around in JA in the 70s...

I saw the Black Star Liner in Dub LP some days ago in a record store. Didn't have any money at the time to pick it up. So the LP was released before at least.

There is no info in the box on who is the mixing engineer on BSL in Dub. There is no booklet at all.

Is it good? Yes it is, I like it a lot. The sound quality is pretty good; I don't think it is mastered from vinyl.

I got the MP3 of bsl in dub and also have zero info I'd like to know who and when it mixed

Have listened to it twice now and found it good, but not earth shattering

Sound quality is mostly good with a few muddy moments

The odd bit of the mixing sounds modern to me so I"d love to know if it's vintage

But weren't like 7 of the dubs available as b-sides from before? I can imagine some being vintage mixes and other might be new ones. As long as their good I have no problem with it. Would be nice if they were open with it if it is the case though.

That might explain why I occasionally think it sounds modern

I agree it wouldn't bother me either, there is a suspicious lack of information about this album

The Black Star Liner in Dub LP has exactly the same credits on the cover like the vocal album http://www.roots-archives.com/release/456 which leaves me in doubt who really did the final mix.
rougher yet

Who is 'Jahlovemuzik' anyway? An alias of Fred himself?

Maybe he mixed it?
