I love the Vin Gordon Album "Musical Bones". It's also on a Trojan 2 or 3 CD Compilation, as you guys surely know. One of my favorite Perry Productions.
And "Heart of the Congos" of course. Plus the oldschool Wailers stuff: Sun is shining, Dont rock my boat, Fussing and fighting and so on. Legendary sound!
When you tell people that you listen to jamaican music, and they think of Sunshine Reggae, best play Super Ape to them. "This is the ape man, trodding through creation..." That haunting flute... man that's wicked. Even better with a little smokedy-smoke
For those who think Super Ape is too polished I would recommend the Jamaican issue, which is rougher in comparison. But it is for sure one of the greatest Reggae albums either way and belongs in Perry's Top 5.
I cannot list his best 5 albums, I love too many.
Nobody mentions Prince Jazzbo's Natty Passing Thru, which belongs to the best DJ albums of all times.
Revolution Dub (worth the price for Kojak alone)
Return of super Ape
Kung Fu Meets the dragon
That's a top 5 for scratch as Dub albums.....too me his productions are where he really shines, esp. at Black Ark. Alot of the dubs of these black ark singles are better then his "dub albums" perse......that's my view.
