OK, I just checked. I DONT have a greensleeves 84 Dub, my copy of 84 Dub is on Message. The seller insisted it was vintage original but if it is the last guy really looked after it. Maybe it's a repress, anyone know if they've been re-issued under message?

And on this pressing Message Dub ends at the end of a bar, although without much of a fade out. But I wouldn't call it sudden.

I have the vocal version on Greensleeves and this, I am sure, must be a recent press. Again, how do I tell? I'm still quite new to spotting originals!

Yes I,

I pulled my copy of this LP, bought in Canada sometime in the mid-to-late 80s, and the label says "Rockers" but it also says "made in the USA."

On the back of the cover, it has the "Rockers" name and logo (melodica), but it als has a RAS (Real Authentic Sounds) logo/mark on it.

On the record itself, the ID marks on the vinyl say "Trutone...RAS 3202." When I google that, all I can find is info on the CD release that has both the lyrics and dub versions of the songs, but mine is just the dub LP.

Sufferer's dub ends normally, fading out, no cutting off; quality is very good. I'm guessing I have a repress? It wasn't expensive at the time, maybe $15. Can anyone shed any light on when this pressing was issued?

Jah Guide.

Hi Leggo Rocker, only picked up your question about the KEF speakers just now after being away for a while. Yes, I have the original stands (black ones matching the speakers which you could also get in brown). Don't know if you remember what they looked like but they are matt black circular with a tube fitting into the base of the speaker which hides the big long bolt which holds the whole thing together. They do sound a lot purer off the floor but a pile of bricks might do the job as well. (Ever the improviser.)

Not had feedback problems with the ProJect but I don't really get the chance to play it that loud (and would probably wreck the Missions first if I tried I suspect). I only ever got feed back off the Thorens when using it with the Quad amp and the KEFs and turning it full up (something like 120 watts per channel, used to have to make sure all the neighbours were out)- and it only happened with my old favourite King Tubby meets... 12".

Let me know if you ever want to let off those kefs - or the stands alone! I have seen them on Kef's archive - they look so cool.

Right now I have them stood on a pair of old Sony Speakers - effective but not very stylish. But they are not in my main set up, I have some very nice Technics SB6000 and SB4500 in a 4-way arrangement. Huge Bass!

I am VERY lucky in having no problems with neighbours and high volume (and my wife never complains either!).

This morning at 3am I was playing Sugar's brilliant Buy off The bar LP VERY loud - no problems!

Hi Leggo Rocker

Lucky man. Are you out in the sticks in Lincoln?

6anbatte - NO! I am in the very heart of the city.

But the house is an old Victorian Rectory, an end of terrace town house, very substantial. My den/office/studio is seperated from the next house by a big entrance hall and the family room. So there's three thick Victorian walls and lots of space between me and the neighbours. On the other side there's the old church.

The only downside is the old sash windows have metal weights inside them that vibrate and chime to the riddim - which can be most annoying. When I get the windows refurbed I'll have to have them wrapped in foam or something!

Hi Leggo Rocker

Nice one. Definitely couldn't get away with it at 3am!

Windows that ride the riddim? I like the sound of that! ;-)

When I looked for a house, my primary specification was 'can I get away with very loud music?'

This one passed!

Do you know Lincoln?

Hi Andy

Thanks for the offer, but I ordered a Greensleeves reissue on Friday and it's just been posted. If it doesn't sound as good as the Rockers version I used to have I'll give you a shout.
