The best era in roots and dub reggae were the years from 1976 to 1980. The first reggae songs, that inspired me and touched my soul, i heard in the nightflight show by alan bangs and in the john peel shows. A short time later i entered the record shops and bought the first vinyls. IT's very difficult to decide iself for my 5 greatest albums, but i think some of them are these:

dreadlocks dread - big youth
ten years after - the royals
negrea love dub - linval thompson
heart of the congos - the congos
sounds vol. 2 - the revolutionaries

one love

1970-1978 makes 90% of my collection

the rest before is 5% ska/rocksteady and maybe 5% recorded after 1978 ....

I had been wondering that.

There was a bit of a campaign by some members to 'smoke him out' regarding his claims to have recorded as a Toasting DJ. Maybe that scared him off?

LATE 60'S THROUGH EARLY 80'S, TOO BAD NOW DAYS THE MESSAGE IS NOT THE SAME. NOW WE HAVE TO MANY WOLF IN SHEEP CLOTHING DECEIVING MANKIND USING THE NAME OF JAH THE CREATOR OF LIFE BY TRYING TO SAY THAT JAH IS A MAN, WHEN JAH IS A MIGHTY FORCE THAT NO MAN WILL EVER BE ABLE TO CHANLLENGE OR EVEN UNDERSTAND. PRAISES TO JAH THE CREATOR OF MANKIND FATHER OF JESUS, MOSES AND THE REST OF THE PROPHETS.

I really like the early reggae stuff: say, 1968-75

And while I like ska and rock steady, there is something special about the first "reggae" records-- as if someone had finally found their voice.

A track like "People Funny Boy" is just so exhilarating and liberating compared to what preceded it IMO. All the possibilities are suddenly manifest. It is as if they broke out into another world.

Anyway, the early reggae stuff excites me the most.
