Your favorite Revolutionaries dub set?

Hi again, Dave!
Have you been able to listen to both records?
How about the matrix numbers?

I do own an Orthodox Dub with MFLP 1001 in dead wax. Blank label, blank sleeve. So how can I separate the two?
To my ears it doesn't sound like Wackies, but I cannot identify the D-Roy Band either, because both Mawamba Dub albums sound different, especially the first one.

Hi Lost Shoe,

like you see, RA is not always correct in its database.
Rootsman is right, these are two completely different dub sets.

The one with the MFLP matrix is the Clive Hunt production. MF standing for the Music Fire label that Clive operated from New York during a short period from 1978 until 1979.
That one has nothing at all to do with Wackies but features tracks recorded in Jamaica at Channel One, possibly by an incarnation of the Revolutionaries.

The other one is also a 'blank' but sounds remarkably different. I don't know who started crediting it to 'D-Roy Band' as it must have been recorded in JA too, also around 1977-1978. IMO people like Errol Brown or Sylvan Morris were involved. The whole sound features a lot of instrumental ideas in the mixing which was rather typical for these men. But that is just a guess.

I have the Clive Hunt and it is a very Channel One influenced album that to my ears sound like the Revolutionaries or at least the same musicians.

I know RA states that its a wackies production but I do not believe that is correct information.

The D Roy "Orthodox Dub" I have not got at this time as I only had a rip of this one and I don`t have it at this time.

However I can confirm definately two different albums irrespective of the fact RA states same matrix for both.
Again, this information on RA is wrong.

So mine is the Clive Hunt and I no longer have to accuse my ears for not identifying the D-Roy Band.

Just like to add that you touch on the "Mawanda Dub" sets.

Those two "Mawamba Dub" albums have been two of my favorite dubs for many many years.

Total killers and imo not to be missed.

Hi Rootsman,
I totally agree with you on both Mawamba Dub records. Personally I love Chapter Two even more by a slight edge. Maybe because I got it first.
Anyhow these 2 records were responsible for me chasing the Orthodox Dub. And now I know I have only found a Clive Hunt record instead of D-Roy Band.
But never mind, because this Clive Hunt Dub is a beauty in its own right.

Bought this one recently

but had to find out, that it's identical with

[cover=4702,2845]

Same record, different song titles!


But it's anyhow one of the best Revolutionaries Dubs.
In fact they made a whole bunch of "best" records. I could list a top ten without problems.
