Thanks, everyone, for your advice and anecdotes. This has proved to be a really interesting read. As far as I see it, I have no choice but to move from MM to MC. Only problem is budget -- is it worth getting an MC cart that costs about £100 to £150? That's the area I want to work in... And any recommendations that fall in that price range?

Jonti,try checking out the ORIGIN LIVE website,in " Cartridges " It should give you some idea.As Thomas states,the Goldring Eroica LX seems a reasonable deal at your price range.Stretch yourself financially as much as you dare and do your research as thoroughly as possible,good luck.
